This was a triumph. by GRichmond This was a triumph. by GRichmond
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

And it was! Came out a bit pudgier than I expected, but for a first try I'm happy. Going to move on to try to make a bigger one. Each square took about an hour to knit due to all the colour changes :/ It's weighted with pennies.

Pattern for knitting your own weighted companion cube is in my gallery.

It will never leave you. It has no legs.

But now I only want you gone.

Did you do this with intarsia? Do you think it would be faster to just do a duplicate stitch? (Since you can't see the inside anyway.) Also, I second whoever suggested foam. Though, it's very cute all pudgy.

Yes, it was intarsia :) I'm not sure, I've never tried duplicate stitch. I'm not too good at sewing, so I probably wouldn't do it very well, haha.

Thanks for commenting :D

maybe have it over a foam cube?
or tie the sides tpgether through the middle? if that makes sence?

For the good of all of us...except the ones who are dead. But there's no sense crying over every mistake - you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake.

But the pudginess makes it more charming! Also it's more inviting to hug and cuddle.

Oh thank you :D I'm in two minds whether I want it pudgy, or to look more cube-like. Although, as a friend pointed out, this way it's an 'Edgeless, safety companion cube', which I like :P

I was trying that as I was filling. I think I'll maybe use squares of cardboard next time so it keeps it's shape :D

I'd love to see it if you did!! :D:D

Hmm~ Maybe use quilting cotton and cut that into squares? So it's still soft :)

Of course~
